phpthumb_generated_thumbnailjpg-1.jpeg Beneath Joe’s Pub, the bourgeois restaurant/concert hall in downtown Manhattan, 4, 5 and 6 subway trains intermittently rumble, making quake the place and everyone in it without being a fuss. This affords the club an atmosphere, transfixing during a performance, only New York money can buy. The effect is almost worth the privilege of an eight dollar pint.

Justice of the Unicorns – Angels with Uzis (Little Lamb Recordings)

phpthumb_generated_thumbnailjpg.jpeg “Wild Tiger”, the third song on Justice of the Unicorns’ second LP, is a male/female duet. “If you return as a wild, wild tiger,” she prompts; he replies, “I will lay down by you and lick your face.” How so? In unison, “Because bad things don’t always have to kill.” If Angels with Uzis has a theme it is this. Songs full of characters doing things, Angels, for all the trouble it rouses, wants to entertain; make laugh; get along with the listener.
