When the show’s host and promoter, Burr, was corresponding with the members of Ellul arranging the show in Rochester, NY, he haphazardly asked in an email, “Everyone I’m promoting the show to is asking me if you’re band’s name has anything to do with Jacques Ellul, the French writer.” Ellul responded succinctly, “It has everything to do with Jacques Ellul.” Having just been introduced recently to the Frenchman’s texts my already optimistic interest in the band ascended itself. But I get ahead of ourselves.

Bookended by atmospheric pockets of pretty melodies, My Ion Truss, while not outrageously satisfying, nevertheless sounds like an LP that will see many summer suns.
